Meet the Teachers of Phuket
Has Been Good To Us Foundation
We currently employ four paid teachers and two volunteer teaching fellows in two
schools on Phuket Island, Thailand.
Teacher Profile: Carl Osmar
Director of Education
Carl comes from England. He has graduate and post graduate qualifications in
education and world religions. He is also an elected Fellow of the Royal
Anthropological Institute of Great Britain. Carl has been involved in most
aspects of education for 35 years. Among other things: acting as a classroom
teacher, high school coordinator of studies, teacher trainer, Government
advisor. He has had both academic books and articles published in the fields of
education and religion. For the last three years Carl has lived in Phuket as a
teacher of English and a TEFL trainer. He teaches at Rachaprachanukroh School in
Kamala.
Teacher Profile: Lynn Crevling
English Teacher
Lynn
has a Masters degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University in
Syracuse, New York, and has worked for and served on the Board of Trustees for
social service and arts-related non-profit organizations in Ohio. She has
developed youth programs and curricula in those capacities and as a volunteer.
Lynns embracing of diversity and interest in culture are reflected in her work
and involvement in the African American and Native American communities. Lynn
says that she is following her heart in coming to PHBGTU to work with children.
She is interested in learning more about Thai culture, Buddhism, and looks
forwards to spending free time with yoga, running and drawing. She
teaches at Rachaprachanukroh School in Kamala.

Teacher Profile: Crisalyn Torrecampo D'Souza
English Teacher
Crisalyn Torrecampo D'Souza, a Filipino national, graduated at the Philippine Normal University with the degree In Bachelors of Arts in Education. A licensed and registered teacher under the Professional Regulatory Commission, Philippines, Cris has 5 years teaching experience including two years in the north of Thailand. Cris is currently enrolled at the University of the Philippines, Open University Programme taking a masters in Education major in Language and Literacy. Cris enjoys reading and arts and crafts.
Cris says 'I feel very privileged to be a part of the PHBGTU Foundation, teaching students and being involved with them through the Coconut Club is truly a rewarding feeling. It is like being a part of a "one, big, happy family" where everybody helps each other to achieve a common goal. I am looking forward to more productive and fruitful years to come'.

Teacher Profile: Sayaka Yamaguchi
English Teacher
Sayaka Yamaguchi is a Japanese-American from New York City with a BS in Communications from New York University. After working in advertising and public relations for the past few years, Yaka left to pursue her dream of traveling, exploring different countries, and giving back to the cultures she encountered. Yaka has worked for years with children in the US at various summer camps, and is thrilled to be working as a teacher at the Kamala School and with the foundation. She looks forward to learning and working with the beautiful children of the Rachaprachanukroh School and exploring everything Thailand has to offer.

Teacher Profile: William Perkins
Volunteer Teaching Fellow
William Perkins developed a passion to travel during his first year abroad, while studying Biblical literature at Capernwrey Hall in northern England. Before returning home Will traveled throughout Europe, eventually making his way to Morrocco, where he rode a camel into the Sahara desert. Upon returning to the states Will enrolled in University but continued taking time off to travel. During the month of September 2001, Will had his first experience teaching English, in a small village in the Amazon jungle. Upon returning to the states, he sold advertising for several years before taking a year off to travel India and Nepal. Once back, Will finished his Bachelor of Science in Communication at Portland State University and obtained his TEFOL/TESOL so he could combine his hunger to travel and his passion to teach. Will has an interest in art and literature and enjoys writing, scuba diving, and photography. He is a full time volunteer teaching classes at Rachaprachanukroh School.

Teacher Profile: Ryanne Rothenberg
Volunteer Teaching Fellow and Coconut Club Co-ordinator
Ryanne Rothenberg is from Portland, Oregon where she graduated from Portland State with a Bachelors of Arts in International Studies and Public Health. She has been employed by a number of non-profits Internationally and nationally. Ryanne has a history of tutoring English, mentoring peers, assistant teaching and working with children. She enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures. Ryanne is dedicated to community development through service work to combat the global health problems of today. As a fulltime volunteer with the foundation she teaches English at the Rachaprachanukroh School in Kamala as well as coordinating Coconut Club and looking after our volunteers.
