Anantara Kindergarten Visit

Girl with BearNovember 2017: Anantara Visits Sponsored Kindergarten Class

Our Kindergarten Class at the Kamala school recently had a special visit from our fabulous sponsors at Anantara. The class was treated to a day of team building fun and games together with the staff members of Anantara who organized the games and even pizza for the students! Yum!

The day ended with Anantara group giving out beautiful teddy bears to each student to take home and cherish.

Our sponsors even went above and beyond by donating yet again to the organization and the school to further improve the work we do together!

Thanks Anantara for a great day!

Kamala Beach Swim

November 2017: Coconut Club returns to Kamala Beach for swimming day

After a long break during the down season and bad swimming conditions, Coconut Club is back enjoying the surf and sands of Kamala beach for their Saturday afternoon.  Our group of students, and volunteers, all enjoyed spending time in the beautifully warm waters, floating and swimming in the waves, as well as playing some ball on the beach.  Despite the fun and relaxing in the water, the day had to be cut short due to thunder and dark rain clouds overhead. We all look forward to next weeks swimming session, with hopefully more sun!

... and it's a wrap!

November 2017: Melbourne Cup Brunch a full success

The Melbourne Cup Brunch 2017 which was organised in cooperation with Good Shepherd Phuket at Outrigger Laguna Phuket on 7th November 2017 was a major success! We had more than 140 guests attending which won amazing prizes through our Fashions in the Field, Raffle, Live Auction and Silent Auction. The income from tickets sales and auctions exceed our expectations by far and will benefit the charity programmes of the Good Shepherd and Phuket Has Been Good To Us.

We want to genuinely thank all our great supporters, including Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort for providing the venue and staff for the event, Class Act Media for their marketing support, Creative Concept for transforming the beautiful Similan Ballroom and Island Technology for taking care of technical requirements.

Christmas Tree Campaign

October 2017: Preparations for Christmas Tree Campaign are up and running
We know that with the end of the year approaching, Christmas’ preparations will soon be on the agenda. That is why PHBGTU is already starting its traditional Christmas Tree Campaign!  The concept is very simple: We invite hotels and other commercial establishments to place our poster and wishing tags next to their Christmas’ trees; the poster calls their guests to write messages to our students in exchange for a donation; the message is then hanged on the tree. We will also join some Christmas’ fairs to sell our special Thai-themed Holiday cards (and maybe some delicious cookies), so stay tuned for when the dates are confirmed!

If you would like to help us by placing a donation box next to your business tree, contact julia@phukethasbeengoodtous.org for more information! And just so you know, overseas venues are also welcome to participate! Let’s make this Christmas shine over our students’ education!

You can't miss this extra-vagant brunch, so make sure to book your tickets in time!

They have been helping us with making new promotional material, new technology for the classroom, training our teachers, joining coconut club activities on their trips to Phuket, and they are currently working on a storybook project compiling stories of Thai legends and folklore. But the biggest project they have been working on is our website. We genuinely want to thank Dr. Richard Fry and his student Oscar Suarez for having created our new website! It was a long process with countless hours invested and numerous meetings held, and we could not be happier with the result. Check out our new features and content, and stay tuned for more updates to be added in the coming months as Dr. Fry and his students continue to develop new applications for us!
